What Is Considered To Be A Dental Emergency?

The category of “dental emergency” is broader than you may think. One obvious example of an emergency is a dental injury caused by oral trauma, like a cracked, loose, or knocked-out tooth. But lots of other things count, too. This includes toothaches that won’t go away, loose or pulled-out fillings and crowns, and even things like having an object lodged between your teeth that you can’t remove on your own. In general, a dental emergency is any problem that’s causing you pain and discomfort, and that you can’t solve on your own. So don’t wait. Contact FLO Dentistry at (713) 893-5526 for an emergency appointment in Rice Military and get the help you need.

Recover tooth or dental work

If you’ve lost a tooth, grab it by the top. Rinse it off. Put it into a plastic container of cold milk, and come to our office within 1-2 hours to have it replaced. If you lose a piece of dental work, put it into a small plastic bag and bring it in with you.

Treat pain and bleeding

You can use a clean strip of gauze, a cotton ball, or paper towels to absorb blood. Place gentle pressure on the bleeding area to help reduce blood flow. If you’re in pain, you can ice the affected area to help with discomfort, and take medicine like ibuprofen. This will help you stay more comfortable until your appointment at FLO Dentistry.
